Arizona's New Immigration Law

So many people are proclaiming their hatred of Arizona's new immigration law. Lots of complaints, but no one's really offering an alternative solution. Politicians bring up immigration reform, but Arizona's problems aren't about immigrant workers, they're about immigrant criminals. Sometimes politicians bring up border control, but they're like, "Yeah, we need better border control. Someone should really do something about that..." And of course, border control is what Arizona needs.

Opponents talk of immigration reform. But this isn't about economics. The illegal immigrants flooding Arizona aren't sweet, harmless workers; they're criminals. Cartels, drug traffickers, violent offenders running from the law; these are not people who would apply to be legal US citizens.

Opponents cry racism! Racism is unfairly judging someone by the color of their skin. But the illegal immigrants plaguing Arizona aren't coming from Canada. Arizona borders Mexico, and most of the people coming to America from Mexico are Hispanic. This isn't racism: it's geography.

Opponents claim that there's potential for abuse. But most any law can be abused. Also, the police cannot randomly stop a person on the street and ask for ID. The person has to commit some type of crime or traffic violation first. If the police then have reasonable suspicion that this person is in the country illegally, they can ask to see proof of citizenship.

Opponents talk of violating civil rights. What about the civil rights of the people living in Arizona? Don't they deserve to feel safe? Are people so hell bent on being politically correct that they'd rather see innocent American citizens die than have to show proof of citizenship if they act suspicious after already being stopped for breaking the law?

Opponents say enforcing immigration laws is the Federal Government's job. Yes, but the Federal Government isn't doing its job. Arizona has asked for help with border control numerous times, but the Federal Government can't be bothered to stop drug trafficking and violence. Arizona's law enforcement simply cannot handle all the crime. If the Federal Government won't help, then the people of Arizona have to help themselves.

Everyone needs to stop crying racism. I'm tired of people claiming others are racist when they don't get their way: People who disagree with President Obama are racist; Wanting to deport illegal immigrants is racist. No, not every Hispanic is an illegal alien. But most members of a Mexican drug cartel are Hispanic. Most of the illegal immigrants coming into the US from Mexico are Hispanic.

Everyone's trying to predict what the law will do. "It'll cause racial profiling." "It will violate people's civil rights." "Police will abuse the law." Ummmm... why don't we wait and see what happens?

Politicians look down on Arizona from Washington DC. It's easy to decry the new law when they're so far away. Have them all come down to the border and find out what's really going on down here. Maybe then they'll stop talking and take action.

Arizona asks for help, the Federal Government ignores them. Things get worse and worse, and still the Federal Government won't help. Finally, Arizona is nearing the breaking point. Arizona tries to help itself, and suddenly the Federal Government wakes up... and says, "No, you can't do that." Okay, so what the hell can Arizona do?

70% of voters in Arizona support this new law. That should tell you just how bad things have gotten there.
